The most important investment in a new ground field will be inoculant for nitrogen fixation. Make sure you inoculate all fields with an in-furrow spray, and then add a peat-based product to seed in the hopper. This is inexpensive insurance.
I recommend inoculant on every acre of peanuts, regardless of previous rotation history. You will have many things you can’t control during the growing season. Plants that are capable of fixing adequate nitrogen can be one issue you can eliminate with a well-placed inoculant.
