Question:

What are your thoughts of running 20 gallons to the acre of water for inoculant?

Jordan:

That is high and beyond company recommendations. I have never compared volumes but always apply between 5 and 10 gal depending on equipment.

Why are you going that high?

Answer:

Every year I'm having a few fields that inoculant does not seem to work when it's dry (and) figured more volume more likely to wet boot with bacteria.

Jordan:

That does make sense but I'm not sure of the impact it would make on survival of inoculant. I think if peanuts have adequate moisture to germinate and emerge, there is adequate moisture for bacteria in inoculant to survive and infect roots. I often plant peanuts 3 inches deep and that can help.
