Question:
Cadre seems to be working slowly on sicklepod. It has been two weeks since application. Should 2,4-DB be applied now?
Answer:
It takes a while to get complete control of weeds with Cadre. A significant portion of the weed control with Cadre applied postemergence actually comes from root absorption once Cadre reaches the soil surface. It can take 3 or 4 weeks to really see the weeds melt away completely. I would not rush to spray 2,4-DB to control the sicklepod. The sicklepod that was up when sprayed and the next flush (really flushes throughout the balance of the season) should be controlled by Cadre. Save the 2,4-DB for application with fungicides later in the season if needed.
