Thresholds for Foliar-Feeding Insects Peanut Notes No. 113 2019

(Updated: June 29, 2019, 9:50 a.m.)

The threshold for foliar-feeding insects is 8 per foot in July and 12-16 in August.  While fields may have a single type of insect, in most cases there will be a complex of tobacco budworm, pyrethroid-susceptible corn earworm, pyrethroid-resistant corn earworm and possibly fall armyworm.  Review Dr. Brandenburg's chapter in 2019 Peanut Information for more details on thresholds and selection of insecticides to manage these insects.
