Weed Control Peanut Notes No. 104 2025

Question:

We are extremely wet in the county. I’ve got all my peanuts planted and have some I would love to replant but it’s to wet. I have given up on the replanting idea. It will be at least Wednesday before we can even think about getting into a field to spray. The Basagran worked great on the cocklebur, but now I have pigweed coming. What are your recommendations for spraying ? Not all the fields have a weed problem but one field is one to many for me.
Jordan:

If Palmer amaranth is the primary weed, I would spray Ultra Blazer at 1.5 pints per acre. Add 80/20 surfactant at 1 quart per 100 gallons. Not sure if you spray Cadre or Impose. If so, apply Cadre plus Ultra Blazer (same rate) plus surfactant (same rate) is a good option. This will give you very good control. But if you don't want to spray Cadre, stick with the Ultra Blazer. At some point you might need to come back and control grasses, but I would get the Palmer amaranth as quickly as you can.

*Cadre will control sicklepod that has emerged or has not emerged (if that is an issue.)
